After the Spring Game, the Ohio State football team was hoping to land a few commitments from some high school recruits. Instead, they got just one, and it was the day before. That doesn't mean that the Ohio State Buckeyes didn't make an impression on some recruits.
Despite the poor weather, the Buckeyes still had some recruits at the Shoe on Saturday. They were able to see how many fans still showed up, despite the fact that it was raining the entire time. The Buckeyes were still prepared to give their best pitch to recruits.
One recruit who was on campus was four-star guard Wyatt Smith. Smith is one of the top offensive line recruits from the state of Florida. He was so impressed with what he saw over the weekend that he already wants to come back for another visit in an official capacity.
Four-star recruit Wyatt Smith wants another visit to the Ohio State football program
According to Chad Simmons of Rivals, the Buckeyes have already scheduled an official visit with Smith. With that being the case, it seems pretty likely that Ohio State has the inside track to land him. Tyler Bowen is trying to build the offensive line for the 2027 class.
Right now, the Buckeyes have four offensive line recruits in their class. In fact, almost half of their class is made up of offensive linemen. Smith would be the second-highest-ranked offensive lineman in their class if they are able to land a commitment from him.
Now that spring football is done, the Buckeyes will be focused on recruiting visits in the summer and landing commitments from recruits they have their eye on. Camp season will help them be able to figure out more recruits to take a look at, too.
Ohio State feels good about where the class is headed. They will feel better in a couple of months when they have more kids committed.
