The Ohio State football program likes to bring in a quarterback for every recruiting class. Under Ryan Day, that has been one of his goals since becoming a head coach. Usually, he's been able to achieve that goal without too many issues, even if he ends up grabbing a transfer quarterback.
Back in the 2024 recruiting class, the Buckeyes brought in lefty quarterback Air Noland as their QB in that recruiting class. He was rated as the seventh-best quarterback in the country. He was expected to possibly compete for the starting quarterback position this season.
Right after he signed, the Buckeyes added Julian Sayin and Will Howard from the Transfer Portal. Howard led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship. Sayin has a shot to do that this year. Meanwhile, Noland is now looking for his third team in as many seasons.
Former Ohio State quarterback Air Noland enters the Transfer Portal for the second time
After last season, Noland entered the portal and decided to head to South Carolina. He sat behind LaNorris Sellers this year, who has now decided to return for next season. Because of that, Noland has decided to enter the Transfer Portal yet again.
When Noland was in Columbus, he did impress in practice. His Spring Game performance in 2024 was solid, but that was the only performance he really had in scarlet and gray. His future is now uncertain after transferring away from two P4 schools in as many years.
Noland might be better served to move to a lower-level ACC school or Big 12 school at best. Quite frankly, playing in the Sun Belt might be better for him. He would be closer to home, and he'd have an opportunity to earn playing time right away.
Regardless, Ohio State is perfectly fine with how things went. They have been the best team in college football over the last 13 months. They seemed to have made the right decisions at the QB spot.
