It has been a rough few years for former Ohio State football player Darron Lee. He has struggled to find his identity after he left the Ohio State Buckeyes. He flamed out of the NFL after being a first-round pick by the Jets back in 2016. He has had some massive legal trouble since then,

Lee was arrested back in 2023 for a domestic incident. After that, another warrant was given out after he failed to appear in court. It doesn't seem that Lee got the help that he clearly needed, because now he is facing an enormous amount of trouble.

Earlier this week, Lee was arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in Tennessee. He is still being held in the county jail. Lee appeared in front of a judge for the first time on Wednesday, but he was denied the opportunity to have bail, meaning he will remain in jail.

The details emerging from this case are disturbing. According to Detective Brian Lockhart, Lee's girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetuo, was found with a broken neck, a severe brain injury, stab wounds, and a bite mark on her thigh. None of that sounds good for Lee.

Lee was already on probation from incidents in both Ohio and Florida, so this is just the latest legal issue that Lee has dealt with. Obviously, this one is the most serious. If found guilty, Lee could spend the rest of his life in prison, which is not how anyone with the Buckeyes foresaw his life playing out. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

This is a case that will now take quite a while to play out. It will likely be at least a couple of years before there is any resolution in this case, which means Lee will have to wait quite a while before he knows his fate.
