Former Ohio State football players are usually extremely successful when they leave the program. Whether they leave for the NFL and become great pros or they join the workforce, the majority of Buckeyes go on to do great things. Of course, not everyone is able to do that.
Former Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee has had some issues since leaving the Ohio State Buckeyes. He won a national championship with the team in 2014 and was a former first-round pick by the Jets in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was out of the NFL by 2021.
Since then, he has struggled to assimilate. He has had some legal issues, including an arrest for domestic violence back in 2023. Unfortunately, those issues have escalated to a terrible degree, as he has now been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
Former Ohio State football player Darron Lee arrested for murder
According to multiple reports out of Tennessee, Lee has been arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend. This is an extremely troubling development for a former player who clearly has some issues. He has also been charged with tampering with evidence.
Lee is still just 32 years old. Had he been able to keep his life together, he might have been able to stay in the NFL and could still be playing. Instead, if these allegations are true, he could spend the rest of his life in a prison cell. This is a very sad development and one we will certainly be following.
Lee last played in the NFL in 2021 when he was signed to the Raiders' practice squad. After that, he had a domestic violence arrest in 2023, and had a warrant issued for his arrest again when he did not show up for court during that same case. It seems he did not get the help he desperately needed after that troubling incident.
