The Ohio State football team plays the Spring Game tomorrow, weather permitting. That will be the first time that fans get to see what this 2026 roster is made of. Ryan Day has been working hard with this team all Spring to get them ready for the season ahead.
Day has told the media multiple times that he doesn't like what he has seen from the Ohio State Buckeyes because he demands perfection. He knows how hard the schedule for the upcoming schedule is. On Friday, his team had its final practice before the Spring Game.
The defensive backs seemed to have the best day for any position group. Reports are that receivers were not able to get any separation from the DBs. While that is good to hear, the offense struggled, and it was perhaps the worst practice of the entire year so far.
Ohio State football team struggles on offense in final practice before Spring Game
Julian Sayin threw a horrible interception with no one around. He wasn't the only quarterback who struggled, as Tavien St. Clair also had a bad interception. In fact, he made a bad check that Ryan Day was not happy with, and he was taken out of practice briefly.
If the wide receivers are struggling to create separation, minus Jeremiah Smith, that could be a massive issue this Fall. On the flip side, the Buckeyes could just have really good defensive backs. Devin Sanchez has really improved in his second year and was singled out by Ryan Day for that.
The Spring Game will give us more of an idea of what to expect from Arthur Smith's offense. That will be a live-game scenario with tackling and everything, so Ohio State can learn more about what they need to work on when the Fall does roll around. Ohio State clearly still has some work to do.
