The Ohio State football team is finally going to play in front of some fans on Saturday afternoon. It's the first time that fans will get to see the 2026 version of the Ohio State Buckeyes. It's the Spring Game, and most of the time, these games are fairly well attended every April.
This year, the Buckeyes have a lot of changes. In addition to 51 new players on the roster, Arthur Smith is the new offensive coordinator. Seeing what kind of offense he wants to call is something fans are very intrigued to see, as he has a history of being more of a run-first offense.
Ohio State will play the Spring Game at noon on Saturday. However, the weather might not cooperate. In fact, there is a pretty good chance that this game doesn't happen at all based on the forecast for Columbus when Saturday rolls around.
The Ohio State football team might have to cancel the Spring Game
According to The Weather Channel, the forecast for Saturday afternoon looks dicey at best. There is a 30 percent chance of rain at kickoff, peaking at a 40 percent chance at 1 pm. Not only is there rain in the area, but there is a chance for thunderstorms that may be severe.
With that being the case, there is a chance that this game doesn't get played at all on Saturday. Rain is in the forecast until around 8 pm, so postponing it until later in the day isn't an option. The only real option would be to play it inside at the Woody, and that would likely be without television cameras.
If you're planning on attending the game on Saturday, make sure you are well prepared with rain gear. The Buckeyes will likely make a decision on the status of the game fairly early in the morning in order to give fans ample time to change their plans.
What is usually the most anticipated date in the spring has now become a waiting game.
