This is a moment that Jack Sawyer is going to remember for the rest of his life. Hey, you know what, it's something Ohio State football fans are going to celebrate for a long time too. We're of course talking about Sawyer's legendary play against Texas, which will go down as one of the best moments in school history.
Texas and Quinn Ewers looked like they were about to score a late touchdown to tie things up and put the pressure back on the Buckeyes. Instead, Sawyer flew through the OSU offensive line, hit Ewers and forced a fumble. Things weren't done there, though, as Sawyer then picked up the pigskin and took it all the way back to the house for the game-sealing touchdown.
Epic doesn't even begin to describe things here for the superstar pass-rusher. It indeed will go down as one of the top plays for Ohio State - ever. As you might have been able to guess, Ryan Day couldn't have been happier with his playmaker, with the ESPN cameras catching a special moment between the two:
Ryan Day and Jack Sawyer shared an amazing moment after the epic fumble return for a TD
Talk about passion. Can anyone blame those two for being so amped up? Not at all. Plenty of OSU supporters indeed were pretty nervous on that late Texas drive, as it sure looked like the Longhorns were going to tie things up.
However, after getting stuffed at the one, head coach Steve Sarkisian inexplicably called for a 2nd-down pitch, out of shotgun, on the next snap. What?! Ohio State's defense recorded a seven-yard loss on that play and the rest was history.
Funny enough, Sawyer and Ewers used to be roommates when the star signal-caller was still suiting up for the Buckeyes. Fast forward to present time and Sawyer was able to get the best of his old friend. Whenever this team has needed someone to step up, Sawyer has been there to deliver and he did so in amazing fashion with a trip to the National Championship Game on the line.
