There's been some outside talk about Brady Edmunds status as a long-time pledge to the Buckeyes, but the general belief is that there's not much to worry about as the 4-star quarterback from southern California appears as solid as anyone.
He went into further detail on his commitment to Ohio State in a story with Andrew Gillis from the Cleveland Plain Dealer and this particular pulled quote from that story explains much of the confidence he has in Buckeye football, Ryan Day and new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
Ohio State QB commit Brady Edmunds on Arthur Smith:

“Everybody preaches that Ohio State is going to get you to the NFL. Well, now you got dudes that just came out of coaching in the NFL. So not only guys that can get you there, but you got dudes that were just there…” https://t.co/hpYg32WoDl
Over Smith's 20-year coaching career, the majority of it has been spent in the NFL with three years as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. During his time in the NFL, Smith worked his way up from being a defensive assistant to becoming a position coach on the offensive side of the ball and, eventually, an offensive coordinator and primary play caller. Last season he was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brady Edmunds believes Ohio State will prepare him for the pros
It's easy to see why Edmunds would be excited to be coached by a guy that's worked with Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers in recent years. Smith has seen how the top guys in professional sports work and prepare, and he can share that knowledge with Edmunds.
And it should be beneficial to both Edmunds and Smith that the coach is going to have more isolated responsibilities than most coordinators because he's not going to be on the road recruiting and will be able to focus on building an offense that is as productive as the ones he had in Tennessee and Pittsburgh. An offense that the Buckeyes hope will put them back on the top of the college football world.
Edmunds has been committed to Ohio State since December 2024 and is one of the first members of a class that's grown to nine players and will compete for the top recruiting class in the country when it's all said and done. The class is currently ranked third according to 247Sports.
