The long wait is about to come to a close for Ohio State and Ryan Day. For months now, there's been plenty of speculation on whether or not 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges is going to commit to the Buckeyes. There are three finalists remaining in the hunt, with OSU, Tennessee, and Ole Miss fighting for his verbal pledge.
However, all signs continue to point to this being a two-team battle between Ohio State and Tennessee. With that, Day has been pulling out all the stops to humble Josh Heupel a bit, and the recruiting experts continue to think DGG will end up in the Big Ten. As things stand, the Rivals predictor machine gives Ohio State more than an 84 percent chance to get this done. With Georges deciding on July 22, Day must be feeling confident that he'll be getting some good news.

5-star David Gabriel Georges will announce his college decision on July 22
With the greatest of respect for Pete Golding and Ole Miss, we're not giving the Rebels much of a chance to land Georges. However, the same can't be said for the Vols and Buckeyes. Heupel and the Tennessee staff have been pushing the in-state narrative, as Georges is a standout playmaker for the Baylor School in Chattanooga.
On the flip side of things, Day has gotten Georges to Columbus several times for visits and the electric running back clearly a fan of Big Ten Country. Ohio State just recently won the natty with Will Howard, Jack Sawyer, and others. Jeremiah Smith was a freshman on that loaded roster, and he's hoping to power Ohio State to another in 2026.
This is obviously something Georges is paying attention to as he gets ready to make one of the most difficult decisions of his life. Ranked the No. 2 running back in the country, Georges is going to be a dream addition for whoever he picks. Will it be Ohio State? We'll find out come July 22.
Karlos May is also on commit watch for Ohio State and Ryan Day
While everyone is fired up to see where Georges commits to, don't forget that four-star defensive lineman Karlos May is getting ready to announce his decision on July 18. Similar to Georges, May has been linked to Ohio State for a little while now, with multiple expert predictions expecting the Buckeyes to reel him in.
Should that happen, it would add to a loaded defensive front 2027 haul for Ohio State. Thus far, DJ Jacobs, Marcus Fakatou, and Wyatt Smith are on board. May, the No. 11 defensive lineman in the country per 247Sports, being added to the list would be even more great news for Larry Johnson.
In a perfect world, both Georges and May will commit to Ohio State within four days of one another. Whether that ends up happening or not for Day remains to be seen, but the Buckeyes have positioned themselves to pull these recruiting wins off.
