Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are getting ready to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in a game that the entire country will be watching. He is solely focused on improving his team as the year goes along. Day doesn't focus on outside noise, especially noise from trolls.
Dave Portnoy certainly qualifies as a troll. The Barstool Sports founder never stops talking crap about the Buckeyes and isn't quiet about it. His act can wear thin, even to non-Buckeye fans. FOX decided he wasn't worth the headache and dumped him. Now, he's trying to blame Day for that decision.
Dave Portnoy claims Ryan Day got him fired from Big Noon Kickoff
Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported that Portnoy and Big Cat were being sacked from Big Noon Kickoff. Portnoy then took to social media to spin his side of the story, claiming that Day put pressure on the Big Ten and FOX to fire him from the show.
Just was told @AndrewMarchand is about to release an article saying I’ve been put on ice for @BNKonFOX I havent seen the article yet and he didnt call me for a quote but i can sum it up this way

Ohio State and Ryan Day bitched and moaned to the Big 10 and threatened Fox…
This is another example of Portnoy trying to blame anyone but himself for failures. Ohio State football fans will certainly rejoice that they no longer have to see his face when watching Big Noon Kickoff. With Ohio State playing a lot of their games on FOX, a lot of fans watch that show over College GameDay.
Ohio State has always denied any allegation that they have had an issue with Portnoy being involved with Big Noon Kickoff. They are not worried about whatever nonsense he spouts about the program. They are more concerned about winning games, which is something TTUN struggles to do.
GameDay on campus in Iowa City as Ohio State visits the Hawkeyes. They also have a loud sports voice in Pat McAfee, but he isn't a troll like Portnoy is. Ohio State fans only have to worry about Desmond Howard, who almost never says anything nice about the Buckeyes.
Ohio State fans will be stoked to see more of Urban Meyer and less of Dave Portnoy
With Portnoy out of the big pregame show, Buckeye fans will get to see more of Urban Meyer. FOX will not be making any changes to their main desk for Big Noon. That means that Meyer will still be featured alongside Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Mark Ingram, and Rob Stone.
Meyer has proven to be one of the best analysts on TV. His film breakdowns are can't-miss segments, and he does a good job of breaking down games from a coaching perspective. He gives a better perspective on games than Portnoy was offering on FOX.
It's good that Ohio State will no longer have to worry about Portnoy's schtick when Big Noon comes to town. There is a chance that he tries to do his own college show with Barstool, as he did before. However, he won't be on FOX's airwaves, which is a win for Big Ten fans all over the country.
Day might be asked about this at some point, but it's unlikely that he addresses it. He has bigger issues to worry about, like winning games. You know, things that actually matter.
