The Ohio State football program has a legacy of producing the best players in college football. That has been the case in the Ryan Day era, as well. He has done a great job of collecting and developing talent over the time that he has taken over as the head coach.
Receiver has been a position of strength for the Buckeyes over the last few years. Day, and mostly Brian Hartline, have recruited and helped develop some of the best receivers in the country. Marvin Harrison Jr. was one of those players. He won the Biletnikoff Award in his final season with the Ohio State Buckeyes before becoming a first-round pick.
Harrison comes from a very talented family. His father is a Pro Football Hall of Fame player. His younger brother, Jett Harrison, is someone the Buckeyes have had their eyes on for a while. He is rated as a five-star recruit, and now he is predicted to pick Ohio State, just like his brother.
Five-star recruit Jett Harrison predicted to choose the Ohio State football program
According to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals, the Buckeyes are predicted to land Jett Harrison's commitment. Harrison is the second-best wide receiver recruit in the 2028 recruiting class. He stands at 6'1 and 175 pounds, so he is a couple of inches shorter than his older brother.
Even so, this Harrison can certainly move. His first name is perfect, as he is a very fast player. He's someone who can generate separation from the defender with ease because of that breakaway speed. He's also someone who is sure-handed, which his brother was while he was in Columbus, as well.
Harrison has not taken an official visit to Columbus yet. It's still extremely early in the 2028 recruiting cycle. In fact, most of Ohio State's attention remains on the 2027 recruiting class. That si the class that will sign in December, and the Buckeyes still have work to do on that front.
Cortez Hankton still has to prove that he is the right hire
Hankton was the one who was chosen to take over for Brian Hartline as the wide receivers coach. He came over from LSU, but some fans are still skeptical of the hire. Hartline is a really hard coach to replace because of how effective he was on the recruiting trail.
So far, it seems that Hankton is holding his own. He was able to hold on to Chris Henry Jr. for the 2026 recruiting class. Five-star recruit Jamier Brown has been locked in through the coaching change, as well. Monshun Sales could still pick the Buckeyes at some point, too.
Once Hankton lands a five-star recruit of his own, fans will be less worried about losing Hartline. Losing Hartline was going to happen at some point, and it was just surprising to see him move on in order to get a head coaching position. Now, Hankton is the guy who can keep things going.
Adding another Harrison would certainly be a way for fans to be fired up about bringing Hankton in.
