Since December, DJ Jacobs has been committed to the Ohio State football program. He is the top-rated recruit in the Buckeyes' 2027 recruiting class. He is rated as the top edge recruit in the country. Despite other programs trying to flip him, he has stayed locked in with the Buckeyes.
Other programs have come in heavy for Jacobs. Miami has been chasing him since the moment he committed to Ohio State. Oregon has been trying to flip him, and a recruit even sent a message to him. Yet, Jacobs put an end to any speculation during his visit to Georgia that he would flip.
DJ Jacobs is telling programs he is fully committed to Ohio State
Jacobs has been visiting some schools recently with his younger brother, Dawson. Dawson is still uncommitted and is a 2028 recruit. In recent weeks, he has taken visits to Oregon, Tennessee, and Georgia. However, DJ has been telling teams not to waste their time trying to flip him.

Jacobs' father said that DJ is telling programs as soon as he gets on campus that he will not be flipping his commitment. That could be the whole point of some of these programs trying to host Dawson on visits. However, Dawson is a good player in his own right.
DJ Jacobs will be visiting Columbus several times this Fall. He was already in attendance for the season-opener against Ball State. He brought his entire family with him, as well. For most of these visits. Jacobs will be bringing the entire family. That further solidifies his commitment to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes currently have the seventh-best recruiting class in the country. Most of the class is set, although they could flip a prospect or two before December. Keeping Jacobs is the priority for them as they close out the class, but it looks like they don't have to worry.
Freshmen playing well is good for Ohio State recruiting
Quite a few true freshmen have already gotten snaps this season for the Ohio State Buckeyes. A lot of them have played well, too. Jay Timmons is the one who has shown the most. The former five-star cornerback has already established himself as a starter and a playmaker.
Khary Wilder has shown flashes when the Buckeyes have put him in the game. Fans have been clamoring for him to see more time, which could be coming soon. Brock Boyd has been solid when he has been on the field as a receiver, and more snaps could be coming his way, too.
All of these true freshmen playing well is good for Ohio State's recruiting. If top recruits believe that they can play right away, that makes the Buckeyes even more attractive to them. Most of their attention has turned to the 2028 recruiting class.
So far, the 2028 recruiting class is coming along well. They already have three five-star recruits committed in that class. Of course, it's way too early to celebrate those victories. They still have an entire year to hold onto those recruits before they can actually sign with the team.
