The Ohio State football program is finishing up its second camp of the summer. Prospects from both the 2027 recruiting class and the 2028 recruiting class attended. Coaches for the Buckeyes were able to get a good look at a lot of the prospects, and a ton of scholarships were offered.

One attendee who already had a scholarship offer is Jett Harrison. Harrison is the younger brother of all-time Ohio State great Marvin Harrison Jr. The younger Harrison is a 2028 kid, and he already has an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes. In fact, he is predicted to choose Ohio State.

Harrison is rated as the second-best receiver in the country. He is a five-star prospect and is someone that the Buckeyes will prioritize in the next cycle. With what he did during his workout, coaches were extremely happy with what they saw.

Harrison went through a ton of drills, and he clearly impressed the coaches with what he was able to do.

It's pretty clear from what Harrison showed at this camp that he has a ridiculous amount of athleticism and skill. Ohio State would love to have him as part of the roster in the 2028 class, but they still have over a year to recruit him and make him part of the roster.

Harrison is going to be the bell of the ball in the 2028 class. By the time the rankings really settle in, it's highly likely that he will be rated as the top receiver recruit in the country. He is that good, and Ohio State knows that. They have the inside track to land him.

That doesn't mean that Ohio State won't have competition for Harrison. Other programs will try to get him to commit, even with the comfort level that the Buckeyes have with Harrison. NIL could end up playing a factor, although the new NCAA bill will likely be passed by then.

Ohio State is starting to build some recruiting momentum

The Buckeyes have started grabbing some recruits in the 2027 recruiting class over the last few days. They have been able to get two cornerback recruits, which certainly helps the defense for next season. Predictions also keep flowing in for them to land some five-star recruits.

If they can get some of those commitments soon, that momentum on the recruiting trail can continue. Of course, it's still six months before Signing Day. It would be much better for Ohio State to get commitments later in the cycle and actually keep them than have recruits commit early and then flip.

Ohio State has 15 commits in the 2027 class right now. That is their priority. That doesn't mean that they won't take commitments from the 2028 class, but they aren't actively seeking those out at the moment. They are more focused on filling out the class that will enroll next season.

The Buckeyes are extremely confident with their recruiting approach for the next two classes.
