While five-star wide receiver prospect Jamier Brown prepares to play in the 2026 Polynesian Bowl tomorrow in Honolulu, Hawaii, he continues to answer questions about his commitment to Ohio State.
Brown, a blue-chip prospect from Dayton, Ohio, has been pledged to the Buckeyes since November 2024 and despite overtures from many programs far and wide, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound pass catcher remains firm to Ohio State.

One of the primary reasons that Buckeye fans may have been concerned about Brown wavering is that his primary recruiter, Brian Hartline, left the program to take the head coaching job at South Florida. But since then, Brown has met with Ryan Day and been assured that everything would be fine in Columbus. Ohio State is continuing to pursuit additional top offensive skill players in the 2027 class. The Buckeyes signed the No. 1 receiver in the 2026 class, Chris Henry Jr.
Several other schools have been waiting in the wings for Brown if he decides to re-open his recruitment. Notre Dame and Miami were among the top schools that were believed to be the most aggressive. Oregon and Auburn were also in the picture.
It's still a long way to go before Brown signs in December, but the Buckeyes appear to be in great shape.
How does Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class look?
So far, the Buckeyes have a top-five class for the 2027 cycle with Brown, a former MaxPreps All-American, and eight other early commits. The top-rated player in the class in five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs, who committed to Ohio State over Georgia, Miami, Texas and others.
There is plenty of time left for the Buckeyes to continue building on this class as the spring evaluation period doesn't start for several more weeks. Expect Day and staff to host a number of junior days over the end of January and most of February to get top prospects on campus before the spring practice window opens.
The dates for the Early Signing Period haven't been released yet, but it will likely be in the first or second week of December.
