The fact that 5-star pass-rusher DJ Jacobs is committed to Ohio State is something that people in Columbus are still fired up about. Unfortunately for Ryan Day and his coaching staff, programs continue to work overtime in trying to flip him. The long list includes Miami and Mario Cristobal, who won't take no for an answer.
Tennessee fans' desperation to keep recruit away from Ohio State is reaching hilarious levels
This offseason, though, the 6-5, 235-pounder continues to calm nerves that a potential flip might be on the way. This has included him rocking Ohio State gear at a camp. While this may not seem like a big deal to some people, there have been far too many times where prospects rock gear from other schools when they're looking elsewhere. This doesn't appear to be the case with Jacobs:

Ohio State remains in a great spot to sign 5-star pass-rusher DJ Jacobs in December
Jacobs continues to turn heads with his work on the gridiron, and he only looks even better with those Ohio State cleats on. This subtle message to the Ohio State faithful also comes after he took a recent official visit to Columbus, which truly could not have gone better for him.
Shortly after that OV, Jacobs made it clear that he felt at 'home' meeting with the players and coaches. As soon as he delivered that message, it felt like his two-day stay on campus only strengthened his verbal pledge to Day. Originally, Jacobs shut down his recruitment back on Dec. 29, picking the Buckeyes over Alabama, Miami, Florida State, Georgia and many others.
Jacobs' pledge to the Big Ten powerhouse also surprised plenty of people in the Peach State, as local fans were hoping Kirby Smart would find a way to keep the 2027 product home. Jacobs is a stud for Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, which is roughly 90 minutes outside of Athens. Despite the close proximity to UGA, Jacobs spurned Kirby and Co. to suit up for the Buckeyes.
Miami continues making a push here, however, as Cristobal has been able to pull off some pretty eye-opening flips already this cycle. This includes landing a haymaker on Smart and the Bulldogs, stealing 5-star cornerback Donte Wright. There's worry that maybe, just maybe, Cristobal will be able to do the same with Jacobs, but the recent buzz suggests otherwise.
With Jacobs having a seat at the table with Ohio State, he's one of 15 commits for Day - that class is currently ranked No. 15 in the country. The '27 haul is headlined by Jacobs and 5-star wideout Jamier Brown. Per the 247Sports Composite, Jacobs is ranked five stars, the No. 1 EDGE in the country, and No. 4 prospect overall.
If something stunning happens and he does bolt for a different team, there's no question that losing Jacobs would be a catastrophic loss for Ohio State. Thankfully, it doesn't look like that's going to end up happening, as the big-bodied playmaker will be ready to put on a show at the next level for Day and Matt Patricia.
