This Christmas, the Ohio State football team has a lot to be thankful for. They have received many gifts already this year, especially the gift of revenge against TTUN. Now, they are looking to get the gift of winning back-to-back national championships.
Ahead of the Cotton Bowl, there are three specific gifts that the Ohio State Buckeyes are hoping to receive. One of the gifts is specific to the best player on the offensive side of the ball. Jeremiah Smith would certainly love to beat his hometown team.
1. Jeremiah Smith goes off in the Cotton Bowl
Smith gets to face off against his hometown team in the Cotton Bowl. This is the first time he has faced the Hurricanes. He would love nothing more than to take it to Miami and shut up all of the fans from his hometown. Those same fans plead for him to transfer to Miami every offseason.
For this game, Smith has let everyone know that he is fully healthy. He wasn't fully healthy for the Michigan game, but he is now ready to go against the Hurricanes. He would love to catch seven passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns to get a victory.
2. Ohio State doesn't lose any more players to the Transfer Portal
After the Big Ten Championship, players started declaring for the Transfer Portal all around college football. So far, the Buckeyes have only lost one player to the portal, wide receiver Bryson Rodgers. It wasn't a surprise for him to declare for the portal, which opens January 2nd.
It would be nice if Ohio State didn't have any more players who want to leave the program. No key contributors will likely leave, but the depth at certain positions would be affected if some guys decide to leave. Keeping most of the team intact would be a great Christmas gift.
3. Winning back-to-back national championships
Of course, the Buckeyes would love this gift most of all. Everything they have been working towards has been adding up to winning the national title for the second year in a row. Winning back-to-back titles would put Ryan Day in rarified air, achieving something no other Ohio State coach has done.
Winning the final game of the season in Miami would be the perfect Christmas gift for 2025. The Buckeyes have been extra good this year for Santa to deliver these gifts down to the chimney.
