I always hope for the best for every Ohio State football player that leaves the program. Whether they leave in the transfer portal or head to the NFL, I hope that they do great things in the next chapter of their life. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen for one former Buckeye.

Marcus Williamson, who played for the Buckeyes from 2017-2021, was arrested last week in Tennessee. He was arrested on charges that included two counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, and tampering with or fabricating evidence.

Williamson is alleged to have carjacked a woman in Tennessee and forced her to go to an ATM and take out $500. Once she did so, he took her car and drove off. Police found him driving the woman’s car into a carwash and threw items away belonging to the woman before he was arrested.

Apparently, the woman also identified Williamson out of a lineup. This is all very bad for a former Buckeye who had a rough end to his Ohio State football tenure as well. He didn’t play in the Rose Bowl, saying he retired before the game and went on a very bizarre Twitter rant during the game.

His teammates came out and denounced Williamson’s allegations after the game, but it was still very strange altogether. Williamson clearly hasn’t done too well since leaving the program. It’s sad to see a former Buckeye in such a state of affairs and resort to criminal behavior like this.

We’ll have to wait and see how the criminal proceedings play out. I hope for his sake that this is just a bump in the road and he can get whatever help he needs. This is not something that anyone should be doing at any point in their life.
