The Buckeyes Have An Elite Running Back Rotation

The Ohio State Buckeyes proved right out of the gates that their running back room was nothing to overlook.

Miyan Williams had an incredible Buckeye debut in which he ran for 125 yards on only nine touches, finishing the game with 13.9 yards per carry. Along with this, he had a 71-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game.

There were a lot of questions coming into the season on if Ohio State would have a back they could use as a workhorse. It appears that it only took them one week to find Trey Sermon’s successor in Williams. The rest of the running back room did not really stand out, however, none of them really got much of an opportunity.

Master Teague III only had six carries for 29 yards. In his debut, TreVeyon Henderson only had two touches for 15 yards. He is a player that could have a big coming-out party in the future.

Despite the passing game dominating the Buckeyes offense, the running back room showed that when Ohio State will need to rely on them, they will be ready to answer the call. Having this many talented backs on one team gives the Buckeyes the opportunity to keep defenses on their toes by running a rotation of backs.

Along with this, it allows Ohio State to keep a fresh set of legs on the field at all times and keep all three featured backs fresh throughout the entire season.
