In the latest mock draft by Mel Kiper, the ESPN draft analyst has the former Ohio State football player way lower than what is acceptable.

I’m going to keep saying it until I’m blue in the face; the Ohio State football team would not have made the College Football playoff the last two seasons without Justin Fields. Fields was the best offensive player the Buckeyes had and was one of the most dynamic players in the country.

Even with all of this being true, NFL Draft analysts seem to think Fields is overrated. Mel Kiper, perhaps the most prominent draft analyst out there, just gave an updated mock that puts Fields so low that it absolutely boggles my mind.

Kiper has Fields as the fifth quarterback being taken in this year’s Draft. That’s right, fifth. He has Trevor Lawrence going first overall, followed by Zach Wilson and Mac Jones going second and third respectively. He then has Trey Lance as the fourth quarterback being taken at sixth overall.

Fields doesn’t appear until tenth overall being taken by the Patriots. He believes they will trade up from 15th overall into that spot to grab Fields. I have said before that New England would be the best place for Fields to end up for his career to have the best success.

Even so, having Fields pegged as the fifth-best quarterback in this Draft is utterly ludicrous. It is insane that anyone can think that Mac Jones, let alone Trey Lance, is better than Fields. Fields can make all of the throws and all of the reads he needs to make for success at the next level.

Perhaps this sort of disrespect is why Fields made the decision to hold a second Pro Day. That could be the only way to show these people up close why it would be a mistake to take Jones and Lance in front of him.

Next. J.T. Tuimoloau might visit Ohio State in June. dark

I’m sure a decision like that wouldn’t haunt a franchise forever. Yeah, certainly no chance that happens. Definitely not.
