Ohio State football: This is truly Demario McCall’s last chance

The Ohio State football player has done next to nothing in his career. He’s using his COVID year to come back and have one last shot at making an impact.

The Ohio State football team has a glutton of running backs. As we talked about earlier, they have six backs who are vying for time this year. One of those backs who will not be vying for time is Demario McCall, who is still on the roster.

Honestly, I was very surprised when I checked the roster for this season and I still saw his name on there. As I have mentioned before, McCall’s career has been a disappointment. He arrived with high expectations and has not lived up to them. That didn’t change in 2020 either.

McCall had exactly one carry for 12 yards in 2020. He wasn’t able to break through a very crowded running back room. He didn’t make an impact in the receiving game either, only catching one pass for 27 yards. Once again, he was virtually non-existent out there. His season might be best for live-streaming Ryan Day talking crap about Clemson.

Now, for reasons unknown, McCall is returning to the Ohio State football team. Maybe he’s just using his COVID year to help get a Master’s degree. He certainly can’t think that he will contribute to this team because he hasn’t done so in any of his previous five seasons.

With all of this being said, I kind of admire what McCall is doing. He’s betting on himself to put in work and get on the field somehow. He wants to show people like me that we were wrong about him. McCall wants one last chance to let Buckeye fans love him.

I think it’s truly odd that McCall is trying to do this instead of moving on with his life. But if he somehow does find a way to make an impact, all will be forgotten. I truly do hope he can work hard enough to get some meaningful snaps this season.
