No. 2: Denzel Burke, CB

Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Kerry Coombs went out and got an absolute haul for this recruiting class. All the attention is on two top 70 national recruits at corner in Jakailin Johnson and Jordan Hancock for good reason. Both are expected to be excellent cornerbacks one day for the B.I.A.

But its four-star corner Denzel Burke from Scottsdale, Arizona that has my intrigue. This is a 6-foot tall young man that is an excellent build for a corner with good hips and good speed. He mostly played wide receiver in high school and will need good instruction to translate into becoming a college defender. But the skill set is there with this kid.

Burke got hurt in the first game of his senior high school season and spent much of the year rehabbing his shoulder.

You may not hear much from him next year. But by his third year, look out for this kid. I think he’s got a little bit of Shaun Wade in him to where he projects to be a very good slot cover corner.
