Ohio State Football: What Ohio State’s schedule could look like for 2020
By Alex Austin
Start off the season with a bang
Michigan
This is the biggest game in the conference, one of the biggest games in terms of ratings, the most important game for both these fan bases, and the best rivalry in all of sport.
This is the game that needs to happen this year.
So with so much uncertainty, there is a good argument to put it as the first game of the season.
Even though this would be breaking a long-standing tradition, this game is too important to both schools to leave anything to chance.
@ Maryland
Getting in as many East games early is the key and Ohio State visiting Maryland will hopefully take advantage of the East Coast TV market.
This again moves another November game up on the schedule but this would be a game that could be moved around if necessary to create the flexibility Gene Smith wants in 2020.
Indiana
This is a game that would be a really easy trip for both schools to take by bus. With schools wanting to avoid flying as much as possible (that was one of the reasons for going to a conference-only schedule) finding games that are close in driving distance is essential.
The Hoosiers could present a unique challenge for the Buckeyes early in the season, but this is a game that both schools would want to keep on the schedule.
