Ohio State Football: College football mid-season recap
1. #6 Wisconsin at #4 Ohio State, October 26 in Columbus, Ohio
The winner between the Badgers and Buckeyes will be the front-runner not only for the Big Ten championship but also for a spot in the College Football Playoff. With Alabama and Clemson both failing to assert their dominance against easy schedules up to this point, both Wisconsin and Ohio State (along with LSU) have looked like the most complete teams in college football.
Defense will be the forefront in this game and will put one team into the driver’s seat for a spot in the CFP.
5. #7 Penn State at #4 Ohio State, November 23 in Columbus, Ohio
A win by the Buckeyes a month earlier likely means they head into this game undefeated. Penn State still faces Michigan at home, Michigan State and an undefeated Minnesota team on the road before facing Ohio State. A 9-1 record is a good possibility for the Nittany Lions.
A weak schedule and average offense were evident in Penn State’s unconvincing loss at Iowa and could easily show up again in Columbus in a game that will still be very important game. If not in the College Football Playoff race certainly in the Big Ten East.
Now for important SEC matchups.
