Ohio State Football: How the Buckeyes avoid an upset in Lincoln
Game management, completing early throws and making correct reads to get into a rhythm will be crucial for the young QB. Expect the Buckeyes to come out swinging early and often with a mix of the run and pass instead of just defaulting to one to ease into the game.
Doing that will force Nebraska to have no choice but to open things up. The key for the Silver Bullets will be containing QB Adrian Martinez who’s among the best players in the Big Ten.

Ohio State needs to be able to disrupt Nebraska on early downs and force the Cornhuskers to get off script. Doing so will put Martinez in obvious passing situations which is playing right into the strength of the Buckeye defense, led by Chase Young who has feasted on teams playing from behind all year so far with seven sacks.
On the outside the cornerbacks and safeties will need to account for star WR JD Speilman who is Nebraska’s best skill position player in space. If the Buckeyes are able to take him out of the game or lessen his impact it will be a huge advantage for Ohio State.
This matchup serves as a potential statement game for both teams as it would be a chance to show the country the separation between Ohio State and their opponents or fit in as a signature win for Scott Frost to jumpstart the program in year two.
I expect the former as the Buckeyes will be ready to go playing with their hair on fire proving to the world they really are this good and dominant. Stay tuned for our staff predictions to see how we think the game will play out.
