No. 8  Devin Smith

We all remember Devin Smith for the lightning speed he put on display during his time as a Buckeye from 2011-2014. His ability to beat defenders downfield as well as being able to go up for the ball made for a deadly combination, and he showed that throughout his career.

His senior season was one of the best in Buckeye history. Not only because of the 31 receptions, 931 yards, and 12 touchdowns he put up but because of the role that he played in helping the Buckeyes win the Big Ten title and the first-ever College Football Playoff.

Smith stretched the field for the Buckeyes in a way that has never been replaced since he left. When J.T. Barrett went down with an injury against Michigan in 2014. Devin Smith’s skill-set fit the huge arm of Cardale Jones perfectly.

Jones didn’t have to worry about being accurate when he was throwing to Smith. All he had to worry about was putting it in the general vicinity and let his athleticism do the rest.

Smith’s career stats are impressive too as he ranks fifth all-time in receiving in Buckeye history with 2,503 yards. He also ranks second in Buckeye history in receiving touchdowns as he brought down 30 passes for scores during his 4-year career.

Devin Smith will always be remembered as a Buckeye legend, especially for the role he played in Ohio State’s most recent National Championship.
