2) Clemson Tigers

Clemson has been a top team for the last few years with different quarterbacks at the helm such as Deshaun Watson and one season with Kelly Bryant.  For the second year in a row they will have the talented quarterback Trevor Lawrence running the show and running back Travis Etienne for him to hand the ball off to.

Last season Lawrence passed for 3,280 yards. Etienne rushed for 1,658 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2018.

Clemson was also ranked first in team defense.  Even though the Tigers will lose players on that side of the ball they still have talented players who will look to bring them back into the playoffs for a fourth straight year.

If Ohio State makes the CFP and plays Clemson, look for plenty of offense by both teams. This won’t be a 31-0 victory for the Tigers like the last time the two teams met.

Both teams are different then they were three seasons ago, and in the end the defenses will struggle and the game will come down to the last play on offense.

With the way Clemson has owned the short three game series I’m sure Ryan Day will be able to motivate his players. In addition to the loss in the CFP, the 17-15 victory for the Tigers in the 1978 Gator Bowl was Woody Hayes’ last game. Dabo Swinny’s squad also defeated Urban Meyer’s in the 2014 Orange Bowl 40-35.

Wouldn’t you think the Buckeyes might be out for revenge?
