Ohio State Football: 6 teams Buckeyes could face in the CFP
By Ian O’Brien
3) Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma has made the College Football Playoff two years in a row and is looking for another trip. It’s going to be different now with Kyler Murray gone but the Sooners have a quarterback who has played in the CFP more than any other.
That young man would be transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts. He led Alabama to the playoff in 2016 and 2017, and was a backup in 2018 when Tua Tagovailoa took his spot. Hurts transferred to Oklahoma looking for a new start.
With Lincoln Riley as head coach, ‘Boomer Sooner’ is still strong and are still contenders for the playoffs. There is a possibility that the Buckeyes can get revenge on the Sooners from that 2017 loss at home if these two meet.
Hurts against Fields would be a big game to watch, along with a new and revamped Buckeye defense against a Sooners offense that ranked third in the nation last season.
Now, add in the fact the College Football Committee has included Oklahoma in the Final Four over Ohio State more than once and this would be an intriguing matchup.
