Ohio State Football: 6 teams Buckeyes could face in the CFP
By Ian O’Brien
4) Oregon Ducks
With Justin Herbert coming back for his senior season, Oregon has been predicted to make the final four for the first time since the Buckeyes defeated them during the 2014-2015 inaugural CFP Championship Game. Last year, the Ducks finished 9-4 but have potential to get their first double-digit winning season since 2014.
The Oregon offense finished 43rd last year which may seem off, but fans shouldn’t be worried. Running back CJ Verdell rushed for 1,018 yards and scored 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Verdell is also a freshman so he still has three more seasons of eligibility remaining. With strong offenses, and defenses looking to get better, look for Oregon and Ohio State to possibly play each other again.
It will be a different story than in 2014 however. Few gave the Buckeye defense much of a chance of stopping the high-flying Ducks’ offense led by Marcus Mariota that year. But the rematch would be interesting if it happens.
