5) Texas Longhorns

Texas is back folks!  That’s right, the Longhorns have gone through several struggling seasons during the later years of Mack Brown and after he left.  Tom Herman took over the program after the firing of Charlie Strong and his team has steadily progressed.

Last year, the Longhorns had their first 10 win season since 2009 and have been considered one of the teams to make the playoffs.  Quarterback Sam Ehlinger had 3,292 yards passing and 25 touchdowns.

The defense will need a little bit of work as they finished 58th at the end of the year, and will have to start young as they lost eight seniors on that side of the ball. But even though the defense is young, they are still a powerhouse and can challenge a team like the Buckeyes.

In fact, sportingnews.com has the Longhorns facing the Clemson Tigers. If that’s the case, then maybe Ohio State and Texas can play each other once again.

Wouldn’t that be a fun matchup to watch with two former Ohio State offensive coordinators matching wits? Ryan Day and Tom Herman are already bumping heads on the recruiting trail in the ‘Lone Star State’ so it would be fun to watch their teams go at it on the playing field.
