A highly ranked QB committed to play for Ohio State which is certainly a good thing. If his talented teammate follows him it would be quite a combo.

The quarterback situation on the Ohio State football team just keeps getting better. Today coach Ryan Day received a commitment from an outstanding quarterback prospect in his 2021 recruiting class. Will his high school teammate follow?

First a look at the QB.

Kyle McCord is a 6 ft. 3, 204 pound sophomore from Philadelphia. He is ranked as the 8th best Pro Style quarterback and the No. 112 player in the country.

He has an outstanding receiver to throw the ball to who is also a highly coveted recruit, Marvin Harrison Jr. Yes, that’s the son of the NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver with the same name.

Apparently this QB / WR combo is pretty good. Here is a quote attributed to MaxPreps as reported by Bill Kurelic of 247Sports.

"“Harrison and McCord are one of the best duos in the country and it’s scary to think they have two more years with each other,” MaxPreps wrote. “The 4-star wide receiver hauled in 50 receptions for nearly 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns.”"

How good will these two players be by the time their high school careers are over?

I am sure the elder Harrison has shared some of his tricks which enabled him to catch 1,102 passes for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns during his NFL career to his son. He may want Jr. to play for Brian Hartline, who played seven years in the NFL, after he had two receivers chosen in the first three rounds of the recent draft with another picked up as a free agent.

And playing with the QB he is familiar with would be a good thing as well.

However the recruitment of Harrison plays out coach Day has to like the situation at quarterback at the moment.

He now has Justin Fields as the starter and two graduate transfers in Chris Chugunov and Gunnar Hoak to back him up. He also has preferred walk-on JP Andrade joining the team in the summer.

Jack Miller, the No. 2 QB in the 2020 class, has been committed to Ohio State since last July. Now coach Day has an outstanding addition to his 2021 recruiting class in Kyle McCord.

Next. 2019 NFL draft class similar to 2006. dark

The Ohio State quarterback situation has certainly changed in the last week and things are now looking up.
