The Ohio State football program has a great recruiting class coming in for the 2024 season. That class could end up being the best class the Buckeyes have ever had. The crowned jewel of that class is wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who is rated as the second-best overall recruit in the class.

Smith is yet another excellent receiver to be heading to Columbus. He is on track to be the next great Ohio State receiver. He’s big, fast, strong, and has a great set of hands. All of that was on display on Friday night when he was torching high school defensive backs with no issue.

At the end of the night, Smith had an insane line of 16 catches for 316 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had over 200 yards of that in the first half. Chaminade went on to dominate Bergen Catholic. Smith showed why he is the most dynamic high school receiver in the country.

I can’t wait to see Smith in an Ohio State football uniform. He is one of those rare kids who could get playing time as a true freshman, just as Carnell Tate did last week against IU. Smith is arguably better than Tate. He’s already so polished and smooth with his routes.

This isn’t the first time Smith has put up ridiculous stats and it won’t be the last this season either. He’s trying to end his senior year with a bang. He wants to do everything he can to leave his mark on high school football. I think he’s mad he’s not the overall number-one recruit.

Smith will be another incredible weapon for the Buckeyes to have next year and for years to come. Buckeye fans will likely only get to see him for three years before he heads off to the NFL. They better enjoy those years.
