Ohio State Basketball: Big Ten basketball power rankings, Michigan on top
Fran McCaffery’s Iowa team is quietly becoming one of the best in college basketball this season scoring 88.6 points a game good for 10th best in the nation and is 7th in shooting efficiency rating as well. The win this past week was a rout of Alabama State in which Iowa put up 105 points.
This paired with wins over Oregon and Connecticut, the Hawkeyes are legitimate contenders in the Big Ten this season.
Ohio State played two games during the week, the first against now 7-1 Samford. Samford took a three point lead into halftime but it was partially due to the fact that four Ohio State starters were benched for the first part of the first half due to being late for practice.
It ended in a convincing 18 point victory for the Buckeyes. Friday’s game was a fun one as the Buckeyes threw it back to the days of playing at St. Johns arena, not only by playing in the famous basketball venue but wearing sharp throwback uniforms as well.
Ohio State defeated Cleveland State handily and head into a Wednesday match up versus Syracuse. The Buckeyes could be favored at home and who would have thought that would be the case at the beginning of the year?
