Ohio State Football: Evaluating the AP Top 10, contenders or pretenders?
No. 6 Michigan Wolverines
After yet another Michigan loss in a big game, analysts and fans quickly gave up on the Wolverines following their poor showing against Notre Dame. Since the loss, Michigan has been on fire while suffocating their opponents. Don Brown’s defense is elite and Shea Patterson is finally settling in at the quarterback position.
Michigan solidified their Top 10 status against Wisconsin last Saturday night in dominating fashion as they got the marquee win they had been craving. If Michigan and Notre Dame played again, I would pick the Wolverines to win the game even with Ian Book at quarterback for the Irish.
When Michigan travels to Columbus for The Game against Ohio State on November 24th, the world will be watching as the greatest rivalry in all of sport returns to the pinnacle of the college football world with everything on the line.
Contender
No. 5 Louisiana State Tigers
Not many people expected the LSU Tigers to perform as well as they have so far this season. The addition of Joe Burrow at quarterback has been the missing puzzle piece so desperately needed by the Tigers. Dave Aranda’s defense has also been elite this season as they have swallowed up their opponents of all calibers.
LSU has the SEC Game of the Year coming up in Death Valley against Alabama in what should decide the SEC West. If the Tigers can upset the Tide too, the SEC Championship Game becomes an intriguing matchup as it would likely be a rematch against either Georgia or Florida.
