No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs were just manhandled in the bayou by LSU on both sides of the ball. Jake Fromm does not have the weapons he did last year and his performance is clearly being affected because of that. The Bulldogs did not look physical enough against LSU, so how could they beat a superior team like Alabama?

I think Georgia certainly has the potential to compete for an SEC Championship and a playoff spot, but I am not all that confident they will be able to do both. The Bulldogs better be careful against a stout Florida defense in a few weeks or they will find themselves in a position in the SEC East nobody saw coming.

Georgia has just not shown me enough yet to believe they are a contender, but they will have opportunities.

Pretender

No. 7 Texas Longhorns

“Texas is back” was the phrase that rang throughout the college football world a few weeks ago after the Longhorns upset their archrival Sooners. Texas dropped their season opener to Maryland, but has since recovered well.

The Longhorns are back to being relevant but I do not believe they beat Oklahoma in a rematch in the Big 12 Title Game, nor could they compete with all of the teams ranked ahead of them.
