Q: Can Iowa actually win the [Big Ten] West?

A: In my preseason preview this season I actually had the Hawkeyes ranked no. 24 which produced a high influx of backlash. Iowa has a chance to let its Kinnick magic against ranked opponents reign supreme this weekend to justify my preseason confidence in Kirk Ferentz’s bunch.

Personally, I know this is bold, I believe this Iowa-Wisconsin matchup is for the Big Ten West. The Badgers’ schedule still has Penn State and Michigan, both of which are on the road. Iowa, on the other hand, only has to play Penn State in Happy Valley.

Based on scheduling, it would be difficult for Wisconsin to overcome a loss this weekend and later regain sole possession of first place in the division without factoring in the tiebreaker. With a win Saturday, Iowa and their stout defense which is only allowing 8.0 points per game will be in great position for another berth in the Big Ten Championship Game.

This game will be close and it will be hard for the Badgers to drop a second game in a row especially when this game screams upset special. Stay tuned for my official pick later in the week as I will outline the week’s biggest games.

Now for a question about a team from another conference.
