Important weekend for the 2018 Ohio State recruiting class.

Every weekend in the spring seems to be a big one when it comes to Ohio State recruiting. But next weekend promises to be huge.

Not just because the players visiting the campus are talented, but also because of the position they play. A couple of highly ranked defensive tackles are making the trip to Columbus next weekend, according to 247 Sports. If both were to commit to play for the Buckeyes, they would be important pieces to the 2018 recruiting class.

Taron Vincent is the No. 1 ranked defensive tackle in the country, and the No. 14 player overall according to the 247Sports Composite. Vincent is 6’2, 285 pounds and is from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Isn’t that one of Urban Meyer’s favorite high schools, where he routinely brings their players north to play for the Buckeyes? Can he convince the No. 1 defensive tackle to do so as well? As of now, the Crystal Ball predictions favor the Buckeyes.

PJ Mustipher is 6’6, 285 pounds and hails from Owings Mills, Maryland. He is ranked as the 6th best defensive tackle in the country and the No. 65 player overall.

With his height, it’s easy to see Mustipher putting on at least another 30 pounds of good weight and become a monster nose tackle.

It certainly doesn’t hurt Urban Meyer’s chances of pulling Mustipher to Ohio State having Larry Johnson as his lead recruiter. Not only is coach Johnson the best defensive line coach in college football, he has recruited the WMV so long he is the most respected coach in that area.

Coach Meyer has missed on some top defensive tackle recruits the last couple of years, but I think he has to feel he has a good chance with both Vincent and Mustipher. If these two prospects come away impressed with their visit to Ohio State, this upcoming weekend will have been huge.
