Ohio State Football: WR Sightings At Spring Practice
A new passing offense for Ohio State?
So far this spring I have been hearing of this new phenomenon taking place at the Ohio State practice facility. Quarterbacks have been seen throwing the football down the field. Now it appears there have been wide receivers catching those passes as well.
Hearing that the north-south passing game is being worked on is welcome news for Buckeye fans. Downfield passing hasn’t been seen very often during Ohio State games lately.
One thing is for certain there should be plenty of time to work on it. There isn’t much need to work on sideline routes and stop patterns, the quarterbacks and receivers should have them down pat.
One of the wide receivers I have been hearing more and more about is sophomore Binjimen Victor. Coach Meyer kept trying to work Victor in last season but he was raw, and very thin.
The 6’4 wideout is now listed at 195 pounds and evidently is maturing as a route runner. I hope so because the kid is just loaded with potential. Here is what Eric Seger of Eleven Warriors had to say about Victor and Parris Campbell today:

"Binjimen Victor and Campbell beat Kendall Sheffield on consecutive plays during mini-field. Victor got an inside release and made a catch on a slant pass while Campbell created significant separation on a comeback route near the sideline."
Eric Glover Williams and Johnie Dixon were other players mentioned in the article as performing well today. EGW may be playing at H-Back along with Parris Campbell, so I would like to see some more true wideouts being mentioned.
I have also heard some good things about K.J. Hill and Terry McLaurin from time to time since spring practices began. However, all of the returning players had better step up their games if they want to stay in the WR rotation because of the young guys who are coming in.

Urban Meyer recruited outstanding wide receivers in this year’s Ohio State class, and I don’t think he will hesitate to use them if needed next season. I’m sure he won’t accept a repeat of last year’s performance by the wide receiver unit.
