You couldn’t have different beginnings to a college career than these three players. Jacoby Boren was already in the recruiting class when coach Meyer arrived, and he wasn’t a highly ranked recruit. Taylor Decker was highly rated and was Urban’s first offensive line recruit. Chase Farris was a defensive lineman who had been redshirted as a freshman.

Decker was the second string right tackle as a freshman, and took over the starting position the following year when Reid Fragel graduated. Last season he moved to left tackle. Teaming with Boren, who became the starting center as a junior, and the rest of the “Slobs” they formed the most dominant line in the nation by the end of last season. This year both Decker and Boren were voted Captains.

Chase Farris’ career on the other hand was one of perseverance. Recruited as a defensive end out of high school, he bounced back and forth from defensive tackle to the offensive line until last season, when he backed up Daryl Baldwin at right tackle. Finally, after all of his hard work, he is a starter on one of the best lines in the nation.

Ohio State is leading the Big Ten in rushing and scoring this season and the offensive line play is a big reason why. If they can play as well down the stretch as they did last season, opening big holes for Ezekiel Elliott, the Buckeyes might bring home another title. Then these “Slobs” will become legends!
