The Ohio State football team is one of the teams who has used the transfer portal as well as anyone since it came into existence. The Buckeyes have gotten some key contributors from their teams over the years, including some of the players who helped themwin the national championship last year.
At the end of Spring practice, the transfer portal will open again. That means that players from all over the country will enter the portal in search of better playing time, as well as a better overal situation. Some Buckeyes will enter the portal, as well. However, this might be the last time that the Spring portal exists.
Based on how things are going inside the NCAA, there will likely only be one transfer portal window next season. It looks like the transfer portal that opens after the regular season is over will be the only portal window that is open. So how much will the Ohio State Buckeyes use the Spring portal?
How much will the Ohio State football team use the transfer portal in the Spring?
Based on what the roster looks like right now, the Buckeyes don't have a massive number of holes. They still need some help on the defensive line, and perhaps at offensive line. They likely won't find any starters on either line. Ohio State would likely just find some depth for this year and next year.
The Buckeyes likely wouldn't add more than three or four players this Spring. Their needs aren't as high at this point in the season since they used the transfer portal at the end of the season. They filled both offensive tackle spots and the running back spot.
Don't expect a lot of movement this Spring in the portal from Ohio State. That might not be a bad thing though. In fact, fans can consider it smart this year.
