The Ohio State football program has one home night game already announced. It's not the one that the fans want, though. They all wanted the season-opening game against Texas to be at night. Instead, that one is at noon. That game will likely be played in very warm weather.
Instead of that game being a night game, the Buckeyes will take on Ohio at night in the third game of the season. That game will be played at 7 pm ET on Peacock. That's not a game that fans wanted to have at night because it likely won't be close. They only have a couple of candidates for home night games in Big Ten play.
Will the Ohio State Buckeyes get one of those games, though? The Penn State game is almost certainly going to be another Big Noon Kickoff. That really leaves them with just two options to host a night game in Big Ten play, and neither one of those is super attractive.
Will the Ohio State football team host a home night game during Big Ten play?
The two biggest contenders for a home night game are against Minnesota and UCLA. The Minnesota game is on October 4th, which makes it much more likely than the other candidate. Ohio State doesn't like to host night games much later than that in the season.
Perhaps the only other candidate is the game against UCLA on November 15th. That would be a return trip for Nico Iamaleava, with the last game he played being at the Shoe, while he was a member of Tennessee. Iamaleava obviously lost that game in embarrassing fashion.
If the game against Minnesota isn't a night game, the Buckeyes likely won't host a night game unless it's in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Ohio State is hoping that it won't be hosting a CFP game this year. They would like to have a higher seed than that.
