The Ohio State football program won the national championship because of what Will Howard was able to do. Howard ended up being the perfect fit for the Buckeyes a year after Kyle McCord left. Ohio State got exactly the kind of leader and quarterback that they needed.
Howard was really good in the College Football Playoff run. In fact, he played so well that there were some rumblings that he could somehow be a first-round pick. A good performance at the NFL Combine could have given him a chance to increase his draft stock to that point.
Unfortunately, his throwing portion of the Combine wasn't perfect. There was one clip that opposing fanbases couldn't wait to share on social media because it wasn't Howard's best throw. His overall performance wasn't as bad as other fanbases want you to believe.
Will Howard's NFL Combine was perfectly fine
This is the clip that opposing fanbases gravitated towards.
Yikes: Ohio State QB Will Howard has gone viral for what fans are saying is the worst combine performance of all time.

While some of his throws weren't great, the tape on him doesn't lie. He was extremely accurate when the games mattered the most at the end of the year. He had some great throws in tight windows in the Cotton Bowl against Texas that very few quarterbacks can make.
The dream of him being a first-round pick is certainly over. That just means that a team could end up getting a steal when they do draft him. Howard won't be falling past the third round. My guess is that he will be a late second-round pick, depending on what happens.
If an NFL team has a question about Howard, all they need to do is turn on the tape from any of the College Football Playoff games. He had one bad throw during that run, and it was the pick in the Texas game. Other than that, he was pretty much lights out.
Howard definitely has a chance to be an NFL starter at some point. While it likely won't be Day 1, Howard has all of the tools needed to eventually win a starting spot and succeed at the next level.
