The Ohio State football program has done a great job of recruiting quarterbacks under Ryan Day. He has done a fantastic job of bringing in top-ranked recruits at that spot ever since he was the offensive coordinator with the Buckeyes. That's usually a position that fans don't need to worry about.
So far in the 2026 recruiting class, the Buckeyes have yet to land a commitment. At this point, all of the five-star and highly-ranked four-star quarterback recruits are off the board. That doesn't leave them with a lot of options, and that's okay for this recruiting class.
There's a chance that the Buckeyes have to end up taking a three-star recruit in this class. With whom they currently have on the roster, they don't need a highly-rated recruit at the quarterback position for the 2026 recruiting class because they believe in Julian Sayin, Tavien St. Clair, and others.
The Ohio State football team doesn't need a highly-rated QB in this recruiting class because of current quarterbacks on the roster
Sayin is a former five-star quarterback and is going to be the likely starter this season. It's likely he starts for the next couple of years. He's not the only big-time quarterback that the Buckeyes have on the roster. Tavien St. Clair was the number-two overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class.
St. Clair could end up starting in a couple of years, too, so that's another five-star QB the Buckeyes have at their disposal. The Ohio State Buckeyes also have a commitment from Brady Edmunds for the 2027 class, and he is a high four-star recruit. He is good enough to take over once he gets on campus, too.
Day likes to have a quarterback in every recruiting class. Having a lower-rated QB for this class isn't the worst thing in the world.
