Ohio State football looks close to landing 2026 QB after weekend official visit

It feels like big news is on the way for Ryan Day.

While the Ohio State football team holds one of the top 2026 classes out there, it's still a bit of a surprise that head man Ryan Day doesn't have a quarterback commitment yet. However, are things about to change soon for the Buckeyes?

Things appear to be trending in that direction. Over the weekend, Day and his staff brought in signal-caller Luke Fahey, a 4-star playmaker for Mission Viejo High in California, for an official visit. He entered that trip without an offer from Ohio State, but that changed on Sunday. With Day putting an offer on the table, could a commitment be coming soon?

4-star QB Luke Fahey is nearing a decision after landing his Ohio State visit

After his visit, Fahey told 247's Blair Angulo that 'it's hard to say no to a school like Ohio State.' Throughout his recruitment, the elite prospect has picked up offers from 27 programs, but he has taken officials to Ohio State, Stanford and Indiana.

Those are his three leaders, with a decision expected to come soon. Some people might think Stanford has the edge since it's the in-state school, but there are so many different things working in Ohio State's favor.

The fact that the Buckeyes just had him on campus for his OV is key, as they were the final program to turn his head while he was on campus. Fahey tripped to Stanford on May 30 and he was at Indiana on June 6 as well. So, which team will he end up committing too?

That's a bit up in the air, but Buckeyes fans are now hopeful that he'll play his college ball in Columbus. Per the 247Sports Composite, Fahey is ranked four stars, the No. 23 QB in the country and the No. 355 player nationally. Will he give Day and his assistants some good news in the near future? That's the hope, but Stanford and Indiana are ready to prevent that from happening too.
