Why Ohio state vs. Oregon is so big in the world of recruiting
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is gearing up for the hardest game on their schedule. Oregon might not be the biggest game, that's still The Game, but it's the one they are most likely to lose. Still, the Buckeyes have a chance to make a big statement with a win on Saturday night.
If they can take down the Ducks, they have a shot to be the number-one team in the country. Not only that, but they stay undefeated and show that they control the Big Ten. They would send a message to the rest of the country that they are the best team in the nation.
Not only that, but the Ohio State Buckeyes would send a big message to recruits across the country as well. Recruits will certainly be watching this game. One of the best recruits in the country will be there as well, and he's considering both the Ducks and the Bucks.

That recruit is Jakheem Stewart. He's a five-star defensive lineman who reclassified into the class of 2025. Stewart is visiting Oregon this weekend and will be visiting Columbus in the final game of the season for The Game. This would be a great opportunity to give him a good impression.
The Buckeyes wouldn't just be sending a message to him, they'd be sending one to recruits all across the country. Ohio State still has the best recruiting class in the country. They would increase their lead if they were able to land Stewart. The 2025 class is mostly full though.
2026 and 2027 recruits will be watching. It's imperative the Buckeyes put a statement victory on the board. It would send the right kind of message to everyone.
