Why Auburn flipping a cornerback is a good thing for the Ohio State football program

The Ohio State football program got some good news when Auburn flipped a corner in the 2025 class. Here's why that news matters.

The Ohio State football program had a very strong start to the 2025 recruiting class. They did a really good job of grabbing some of the best players in the country. They got commitments from three five-star players very early in the cycle, which was in the Spring.

Since that strong start, the Buckeyes have had some trouble keeping the momentum going. They haven't been as strong closing out the class as they were getting it going. One of the issues concerning them is making sure they don't have any of their guys flip.

One of their chief concerns in that department is five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord. Offord has been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes since February. He's been linked to Auburn for months now though and has been a prime candidate to flip. Ohio State got good news on that front.

Auburn flipping a corner means Na'eem Offord will likely stay with the Ohio State football team

Auburn has flipped four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux from USC. That gives the Tigers four corners for this class. That's a full room now. It makes it much more likely that Offord stays with his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes. He still wants playing time.

While Offord is heading to Florida for a visit, Ohio State football fans shouldn't worry about that. It looks like the Gators are just paying a bunch of recruits to make a visit to Gainesville. Offord isn't the only high-level prospect to be visiting for that LSU game.

It seems much more likely now that the Buckeyes will hold onto both five-star corners for this cycle. That's great news as we creep closer to the early signing period. Now, Ohio State just has to keep other recruits from flipping their commitments. There aren't a lot of other guys to worry about in that department though.
