The Ohio State football team is still going through spring practice. The Buckeyes know that the reps they are getting right now can really help at the end of the year. Last season ended poorly, losing to Indiana and Miami in the final two games of the year. They want to avoid that in 2026.
So far, the Ohio State Buckeyes have only had a couple of practices. Still, they have had some players already step up in those practices. With so much roster turnover from a year ago, the Buckeyes would really love to have a few players step up in certain positions.
With spring practices about to really ramp up, there is one player that Ohio State would love to have to emerge as the MVP of the spring. That's especially true for the secondary, especially with so many players leaving in the Transfer Portal. That means that Devin Sanchez would be a great player to emerge as the MVP.
Devin Sanchez would be the perfect spring MVP for the Ohio State football team
The Ohio State football team will have three new starters in the secondary. With that being the case, Ohio State needs to have some guys step up at the cornerback spot. Sanchez, a former five-star recruit, played more as the season went on last year as a true freshman.
Sanchez showed some great moments last season as a freshman with his length. He also had some bad moments getting burned early in the year when he first started playing. Quite frankly, he needed reps to improve, as any young player needs to. He has started spring practice by turning heads already.
If Ohio State is able to have Sanchez emerge as a lockdown corner opposite of Jermaine Mathews Jr., Ohio State's defense is going to be really good this year once again. Matt Patricia is returning to coordinate the defense, so his system is still going to really help the secondary.
Sanchez is a really good young player. Having him turn into the spring MVP would give him a ton of confidence heading into a year that has a brutal schedule.
