The Ohio State football program has started spring practice. They had their first one on Tuesday as they get ready for the 2026 season. The Buckeyes have plenty of new faces on the roster after 31 players left in the Transfer Portal. Still, the best player on the roster is a familiar face.
Receiver Jeremiah Smith is still the best college football player on the planet. He is still the best weapon that the Buckeyes have on offense. With new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in the fold, some fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes are worried he won't utilize Smith enough.
Ryan Day has assured fans that it is not going to happen. Ohio State might run the ball a little more than they have in previous years, though. If that's the case, it looks like Smith has improved his blocking based on a video clip coming out of practice.
Video clip shows how strong Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith is
A clip came out of the first practice of the spring from Smith, and it was incredible watching him block. He absolutely destroyed his defender with ease.

It didn't even look like he was trying that hard to run through him. Smith just did anyway because he is so big and strong. He looks like he has put on even more muscle in the offseason. That's something he needs to take his game to the next level, especially when it comes to blocking.
Smith's inability to get a block on a wide receiver screen led to a pick-six in the Cotton Bowl against Miami. That ended up being one of the deathblows that the Hurricanes dealt OhioS tate in the first half, and the Buckeyes were never able to recover from that play.
It seems that Smith is determined to never let that happen again in his final collegiate season. Smith has said he's going to be a monster next year. Perhaps this is the evolution of that.
