Tyler Bowen lands the best recruit he's had for the Ohio State football team

Since he was hired as the offensive line coach for the Ohio State football team, this is the best recruit he has brought in.

The Ohio State football program is trying to build the 2027 recruiting class up. They have several predictions for five-star recruits, including a stud defensive lineman. Still, they only had 15 commits in the class heading into Friday night. It is a light class load at that point.

Ryan Day hasn't panicked, and he has kept allowing his staff to hit the recruiting trail with a log of vigor. Tyler Bowen has hit the trail hard and has the most recruits of any staff member. Heading into Friday, he had five offensive line commits in the 2027 class alone.

The Buckeyes were wondering if another one was going to join the fold. On Friday night, the Ohio State Buckeyes learned that high four-star recruit Caden Moss decided to commit to the program, giving them a sixth offensive line recruit. This is the best recruit Bowen has had.

Ohio State football team lands Caden Moss

Moss is a four-star recruit out of the state of Mississippi. Ole Miss was the program that the Buckeyes were battling the most for his services, as that was his home-state school. Moss stands at 6'5 and 320 pounds, so he has some great size as an offensive tackle at the next level.

Adding Moss gives Bowen his highest-rated offensive line recruit since he took the job. He has a chance to be a starter for Ohio State down the line, which is something that they need. Still, six recruits in a single recruiting class is quite a lot at one position group.

Adding Moss to the fold might mean that Bowen tries to get one of the lower-rated prospects to give up his spot. If they don't, that's fine. This will mean that the roster has plenty of depth on the offensive line. It's never bad to have too many guys ready to go up front.

The Ohio State football team has a real shot to end with a top-five recruiting class

When it's all said and done, there is a chance that the Ohio State Buckeyes end up with a top-five recruiting class. They have predictions to land some more five-star recruits, and they are favored to land a couple of others. Even if the sheer number of recruits in the class isn't massive, the quality could be very high.

Ryan Day is hoping to have that be very high when December rolls around. Of course, there are still several months until Signing Day rolls around. That is when the class will need to be solidified at all positions across the field. Bowen has certainly done a good job of recruiting his room.

With Moss in tow, Bowen has to feel good about his ability to recruit. The next step in progress as a coach is to actually help the guys on the roster get better over time. That will be put to the test this year, as the offensive line has four returning starters. Getting those guys to play at an all-conference level is the key to a national championship.
