Ohio State gets prediction to land top OL recruit right before his commitment

It seems that the Buckeyes are sitting pretty right before his official announcement.

The month of June has been a solid month for the Ohio State football program on the recruiting trail. They have landed two commits in the 2027 class and one in the 2029 class. While adding two commits is great, the Buckeyes were hoping for a couple more.

There is still time for them to add to the class. There are still a few days left in June, and the Ohio State Buckeyes have several predictions to land top-shelf talent. They also have a highly-touted prospect getting ready to make his commitment announcement on Friday.

That player is four-star offensive lineman Caden Moss. Moss is from Jackson, Mississippi, and had long been considered someone who was going to go to Ole Miss. Now, the Buckeyes have logged a key prediction to land him, right before he announces.

Caden Moss predicted to pick the Ohio State football program

Moss has now picked up a prediction from Steve Wiltfong of Rivals to pick the Buckeyes. He isn't the only one to think that Ohio State will be getting him, as Sam Spiegelman also believes he'll play in Columbus next season. To pick a prediction right before he announces is big news.

It's a little surprising that Ohio State is deciding to add another offensive lineman to this class. Tyler Bowen has been very active on the recruiting trail in this class. In fact, the Buckeyes already have five offensive linemen pledged for 2027. Adding another one means they are going to have plenty of depth at this position.

Taking six offensive linemen in one class is a lot of players up front. If they end up keeping all of them, that would likely mean there wouldn't be much action in the Transfer Portal. Looking at Ohio State's starting lineup, they are set to lose two or possibly three guys next season.

Tyler Bowen needs to take the next step in his Ohio State coaching career

It's clear that Bowen has shown he can add prospects on the recruiting trail. That was his MO when he was hired, and that has proven to be true. However, that doesn't mean that he is perfect yet. He needs to take the next step in his coaching career with the Buckeyes.

That means that he needs to develop some of the guys on the roster. The offensive line really struggled in the final two games a year ago. Having them be better this season will be one of the keys to them having a shot at winning a national championship.

Once Bowen can prove that he can develop guys on the roster into better players, the floodgates will open. Ohio State won't just get three and four-star guys up front. More five-star guys will start looking at them seriously. They haven't landed a five-star recruit up front since Paris Johnson Jr.

Adding Moss would really put a nice bow on this offensive line class. Ole Miss is still a threat until he makes his official announcement. Quite frankly, they are a threat until Signing Day, even if he does pick the Buckeyes.
