The Ohio State football program is continuing to go through spring practice. One of the biggest areas of concern that Ryan Day has in the spring is the offensive line. It was the weakest unit last season, and that was the biggest reason why they lost the last two games of the year.

Four starters from up front return this year. Only Tegra Tshabola is gone, and he was the worst lineman they had. Still, Day has made it clear that they are playing guys at multiple positions to find the right combinations. Austin Siereveld is the best returning lineman after playing left tackle last year.

Phillip Daniels is the other tackle who returns. He is in more danger of losing his starting spot. It was Daniels' first time starting for an entire season after he played occasionally for Minnesota. It turns out that both offensive linemen had secret surgeries recently.

Two Ohio State offensive linemen have secret surgeries

According to Tim May of Lettermen Row, both Ohio State Buckeyes had surgeries recently. May reports that both players are healing from their procedures, which is good. What isn't good is that they likely won't be participating much in the rest of spring practice, if at all.

This means that other offensive linemen will have a shot to make some noise in the final part of spring, including the spring game. Perhaps someone like Sam Greer can push Daniels for that starting right tackle spot. Siereveld is locked in as a starter somewhere on the offensive line, so he doesn't have to worry.

Injuries have been quite a story this spring for the Buckeyes. They are already missing both top running backs for the entire spring. Having two starting offensive linemen also undergo surgeries isn't ideal. The good news is that they both should be good to go for the Fall.

The Buckeyes will be on the field for the Spring Game in exactly two weeks.
